golf clubs are
under threat
Why golf clubs are increasingly targeted
Golf clubs are increasingly in the sights of cyber criminals due to the volume of valuable personal and financial data they hold, alongside often complex but under-protected operational systems. In the UK, 43% of businesses reported a cyber breach or attack in the past year, with the figure rising significantly for larger organisations. Meanwhile, the sports and leisure sector is seeing a growing rate of targeted attacks as adversaries look for weaker entry points into data-rich environments.
At the same time, threats are becoming more sophisticated. AI is now being used to automate and scale attacks, from highly convincing phishing campaigns to rapid vulnerability exploitation—reducing the time it takes to compromise systems from days to minutes. For golf clubs managing member databases, payment systems, and booking platforms, this creates a heightened and evolving risk profile that traditional security approaches struggle to keep pace with.
Why engage a specialist
Generic cyber security is no longer enough. Golf clubs need a partner that understands both the operational realities of the sector and the modern threat landscape. We provide a focused, risk-led approach designed specifically to protect clubs like yours—strengthening resilience, reducing exposure, and ensuring your operations remain secure, compliant, and uninterrupted.
De-Risk Your Club
Member databases full of payment details and personal data, combined with outdated systems, make clubs easy to breach. Attackers impersonate suppliers, send fake invoices, and run convincing phishing campaigns using your brand.
Now AI is raising the stakes—deepfakes, fake reviews, and cloned social accounts can damage your reputation overnight.
Cyber-attacks in hospitality jumped 91% in 2023. Golf clubs are firmly in the crosshairs.
It’s no longer a question of if—only when. Are you ready?

– Colin Sinclair, The Secretary, The Royal St George’s Golf Club

“In recent years we have become very aware of the threat of cyber attacks and as such employed the services of Cyber Mulligan, who we became aware of at a GCMA conference last year. The team at Cyber Mulligan have offered a comprehensive service which gives us peace of mind knowing we have reduced the risk as much as possible of any potential threat.
The training has been excellent, easy to access for all staff and can also be made available for Board and committee members.”
Danny Welsh | General Manager | Glasgow Golf Club

“Over recent years, I have become increasingly aware and concerned about the risk of a cyber-attack. Indeed, it was only due to the vigilance of our accounts team at Accountancy Matters that we were not subject to one ourselves. For this reason, I was very interested in speaking with the team at Cyber Mulligan when they were exhibiting at the GCMA Conference last year. Despite having adequate cyber-attack insurance, we were keen to protect ourselves and avoid any unfortunate situation. The installation across all of our devices was very smooth and easy, and the training my team, Board and members have and will continue to receive has been easily accessed and excellent.”
– Chris Lomas, Worplesdon Golf Club Secretary

Knowing how real the risks now are of cyber-attacks, we were eager to take proactive steps to protect the club and the members, whom we have a duty of care to. We were introduced to Cyber Mulligan at one of the intelligentgolf webinars. Despite having cyber insurance, it is essential to prevent issues before they happen. The Cyber Mulligan team made the entire process seamless; from installation across all our devices to the comprehensive training provided to our team. The training has been excellent, easily accessible, and will be an ongoing resource for us. I highly recommend Cyber Mulligan for their expertise and exceptional service. Cybersecurity is now as important as always locking your front door!
Kris Bezzant – Director
Southwick Park Golf Club

“Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club employed the services of Cyber Mulligan in the summer of 2024. The Club was aware of the risks of poor cyber security and was keen to increase its protection across its IT infrastructure. Cyber Mulligan offered a comprehensive service for ensuring that devices were provided with corporate-level protection and 24-hour monitoring.
Knowing that human error is the most typical cause of a cyber breach, the Club was keen to utilise Cyber Mulligan’s Cyber Awareness Training. A training programme is now in place for all staff who have access to the IT system, teaching best practice and how to spot potential threats. Training is also accessible for the Club’s Board and advice bulletins are available to the wider membership. That Cyber Mulligan provide advice in the event of a cyber breach gives the Club even more peace of mind, too.”
